There were a lot of amenities that made our one-night stay very comfortable. The camping area was clean and spacious, there were sites with shaded picnic tables, and every site had its own water source and was located near trash bins. Oliver Lee State Park is about 9 miles southwest of Alamogordo on US 54, then 4 miles east up Dog Canyon road up a long ascending slope to the base of the abrupt cliff faces of the Sacramento Mountains where the narrow Dog Canyon exits the mountain.
